Chinese Education

After the denial of 1966-76's Cultural Revolution in China, the advancement of China's education system was geared to the modernization of economic structure. After the struggle of officials for the betterment of education system in China, there came a decision in 1984 to make some laws and rules for the education system in coming recent years and then a year later in 1985 a plan was put forward for the reformation of the Chinese Education system. The plan was to lay found to State Education Commission (SEC) and make education compulsory at least for nine years. Efforts of the officials became more vivid as the amount of fund rose for next five year plan of 1986-90 was 72 percent more than the funds allocated to the previous education plan. In 1984 only 10.4 percent of the total state budget was allocated for the growth in educational system and as for 1986 the percentage rose to 16.8 out of the total budget of the state. The main purpose of the Cultural Revolution was to educate people regarding the universal equality among people from different walks of life that was the main purpose of the movements like "The great Leap Forward" and the "Socialist Education Movement"

According to the Chinese Communist Party Leadership, modernization is dependant upon the development of better education system and in 1980's Chinese Leadership prioritized the education of technology, research as well as practical training. Practical and technical training was given the supreme importance to clinch their aim of modernization; however the importance of humanities couldn't be neglected as well. Due to the progress being made in west regarding education system and scientific research, in 1976 Chinese leadership declared a policy of encouraging the students to learn and take practical training of the western wisdom regarding the scientific research. During the revolution the Chinese culture and literacy was also re-born and flourished yet again.

After the compulsion was made for a minimum of nine years education by Chinese leadership the illiteracy fell from 80 % to just 5 % as the nine year education is operated in 90 percent of populated area of China. Up till today more than 60 million people have been education and trained through this education system. System also rose the importance of education among Chinese people and today more then 98 % children are enrolled in elementary whereas in junior high 94.1 percent of students get enrolled adding up to the total of 250 million students in china who get education in elementary, junior and senior high school. There was a time when degree of MBA was unknown and MBA qualified personals were found scarcely in china but according to a count of 2004, there were around 47,000 MBA's education from the total of 62 colleges and university teaching for the degree of MBA.

The main purpose of the reform was to Modernize china by modernization its education system so that china could make its mark and stand close to other developed countries. Though the management of the education system was transferred from government to the local level so that the system could be operated even better, but centralized authority still lies in the hand of government and a uniform standard for the qualification of teachers and text books to be studied were also set. Reforms goal to advance the education system in china seems to be going in right direction, to date.
